In a new pamphlet, The Hampden Trust shows the value of the Magna Carta. Widely viewed as one of the most important documents in the history of democracy, Magna Carta was the foundation for English Law for centuries after it was first signed in 1215. In the run up to the 800th year of its signing, this booklet has been produced to illustrate the origins of this Great Charter, how much of it has been lost over the years and to show what aspects of it remains in force today. In doing so it aims to educate the reader about the importance of freedom under the law, both then and now.
